The Alloy 13 Collective
Meet the
Artists
Painters, photographers, fiber artists, musicians, illustrators, glass artists, makers and storytellers. Alloy 13 is made from individual creative voices choosing to build something together.

Alloy Foundry
Alloy Foundry
Foundry members help shape the collective itself while continuing to develop their own creative practices.
Alyssa Penman
Textile + Mixed Media Artist
Alyssa Penman works across textiles and mixed media, weaving together sewing, embroidery, crochet, handmade paper and repurposed materials.
Her work often begins with textiles that already carry a history. Rather than working from a rigid plan, Alyssa follows material, color and intuition, allowing a piece to change as it develops. She leaves room for viewers to encounter the finished work on their own terms and bring their own meaning to it.
Bob Augustine
Musician + Multidisciplinary Creative
Bob Augustine, also known as Folk IndieBob, brings music and an independent creative spirit to Alloy 13.
His work is rooted in songwriting, performance and the kind of creative practice that grows through community, experimentation and showing up to make the next thing. At Alloy 13, Bob helps widen the definition of an artist collective beyond the visual arts and keeps music in the room.
Leonard Boyd
Photography
Leonard Boyd is a photographer with an eye drawn toward landscape, abandoned structures and the built environment.
His photographs find texture, atmosphere and history in places people often pass without noticing. Weathered surfaces, forgotten buildings and quiet corners become records of place as much as images in their own right.
David Howard
Glass + Illustration
David Howard creates through Uncle Dave’s Art Studio, working across glass, illustration and hands-on making.
His work carries the unmistakable presence of something made by a person rather than produced by a machine: playful, tactile and willing to follow an idea wherever it goes. That curiosity makes David a natural fit inside a collective built around experimentation.
Nicky Magnelli
Mixed Media Artist + Storyteller + Creative Strategist
Nicky Magnelli is a mixed media artist, storyteller and creative strategist whose work is rooted in connection, belonging and the beauty of things that refuse to stay perfectly inside the lines.
Her pieces layer paper, textiles, paint, found materials, stitching and handwritten words into work that often feels part journal page, part artifact and part conversation. Through Hot Mess Art, she creates from the belief that meaningful work does not have to begin tidy, polished or certain.
Nicky’s creative practice extends beyond the objects she makes. She is especially interested in creating places where people can gather around art, story, faith, hospitality and shared experience. That same instinct shapes her work within Alloy 13 and other community-focused projects in New Kensington.
Rachel Offredi
Multidisciplinary Artist + Maker
Rachel Offredi creates through Designs By Mysticsnowtiger & Family, bringing an eclectic, exploratory approach to the collective.
Rachel’s creative practice resists being reduced to one material or one lane. That flexibility reflects one of the things Alloy 13 values most: the freedom to experiment, follow curiosity and allow creative identity to keep evolving.
Jamie Özen
Multidisciplinary Creative
Jamie Özen brings a multidisciplinary creative presence to Alloy 13, with a practice that is comfortable moving between forms rather than staying inside one prescribed category.
That openness to exploration is part of the collective’s DNA. Jamie contributes the perspective of an artist for whom process, experimentation and creative identity remain alive rather than fixed.
Javier Roman
Photography + Painting
Javier Roman works across photography and painting, using both camera and brush as ways of looking more closely at people, places and moments.
Moving between photographic observation and painted interpretation allows Javier’s work to occupy more than one visual language. His presence in Alloy 13 reflects the collective’s belief that artists do not need to choose a single medium in order to have a clear creative voice.
Dawn Sowanick
Visual Artist + Teaching Artist
Dawn Sowanick is a visual and teaching artist whose creative practice moves through photography, print-based processes, gelli printing and other forms of hands-on art making.
Just as important as making her own work is opening the process to other people. Dawn brings the energy of a teacher into the collective, helping creative techniques feel approachable, experimental and worth trying.
James Sabulsky
Graphic Art + Illustration + Painting + Photography
James Sabulsky is a multi-faceted artist working across graphic art, illustration, painting and photography. His interests span history, national parks, popular imagery and the visual character of Pittsburgh.
Through James Joseph Designs and Photography, his work moves easily between drawn, painted and photographic approaches. James is also one of Alloy 13’s original founders, making his creative practice part of the collective’s story from the beginning.
Alloy Artists
Alloy Artists bring their creative practice into the wider life of the collective through exhibitions, events, collaboration and community.
Amanda Baker
Artist + Nature-Inspired Creative
Amanda Baker brings a creative perspective closely connected to nature, animals and an intuitive way of working.
Her broader creative life reflects an interest in the relationships between people, animals, environment and well-being. Within Alloy 13, that perspective adds another distinct voice to a collective built around very different ways of seeing the world.
Amy Fisher
Artist
Amy Fisher is part of Alloy 13’s growing community of working artists and makers.
Her profile will continue to grow as we add more of the stories, processes and work happening across the collective.
Cheryl Hallauer
Glass Artist
Cheryl Hallauer is a glass artist working with fused and slumped glass, using heat, layering and color to transform individual pieces into finished forms.
Her practice balances precision with the element of surprise that comes from kiln work, where material, temperature and timing all play a part in the final piece. Cheryl also brings that process into the classroom through hands-on glass workshops.
Shane Henderson
Graphic Designer + Illustrator + Photographer
Shane P. Henderson is a Pittsburgh-area graphic designer, artist, illustrator and photographer with a particular affection for buildings and the stories architecture carries.
His Buildings by Shane project began in 2016 and turns familiar structures into carefully observed illustrations. Pittsburgh landmarks and local architecture become a kind of visual record, preserving the personality of place through line, shape and detail.
Kelly Kirschman
Musician + Photographer
Kelly Kirschman describes herself as a collector of memories, and that instinct runs through both her music and photography.
Her creative work pays attention to moments worth holding onto: atmosphere, emotion, people and the small details that give a memory its shape. She brings both musical and visual ways of storytelling into the Alloy 13 community.
Karen Shoop
Mixed Media + Small Works
Karen Shoop creates through Karen Alexandria Artistry, with a practice that includes small painted works, hand-created objects and pieces designed to carry a little art into everyday life.
Her work has included painted stones and small Art-o-mat pieces, reflecting a playful belief that art does not need a giant canvas or formal gallery wall to matter.
Alloy Ambassadors
The Alloy 13 community extends beyond the artists exhibiting work. Ambassadors support, encourage and help connect the collective to the wider community.
